What is a macro lens and why is it different?
A macro lens allows you to focus really close to the subject with a magnification of 1:1. That means the image hitting the sensor will be the same size as the actual object. The trade off is that the depth of field is very short when shooting 1:1. One way to overcome the short focal length is to stack the photos using software. You will see below that you can only focus on a fraction of the nickel at a time. It took five shots to get all sections of the nickel in focus. The photo stacking software will analyze the photos and select the parts that are in focus and output a final focused image
